San Diego Zoo
Repurposing an existing Gibbon enclosure, DPA created a truly immersive walk-thru visitor experience where guests have a toe-to-toe meeting with these precocious primates. Itβs giggles all around when a band of Lemurs bounds down from the trees to get a sniff of the people who have come in to see them. Randomly stacked horizontal bamboo poles form a climbing trail from the ground up into the canopies of the trees and out through the enclosure walls over the entry airlock, blurring exhibit boundaries. Airlocks are large enough to include plantings that further soften the inside/outside definition. You can also be the Lemur β sit with your family on the Lemur seats with big ring tails behind for a memorable photo moment. A funky hand-wash station gives visitors a place to wash up after their encounter.
